Saginaw Radio: Country Muic Fest Crowd Hits 100,000+

A huge crowd estimated at 110,000 people biked, walked and boated its way to Saginaw's Ojibway Island to see country music headliner Gary Allan perform at the WKCQ 98 KCQ CountryMusic Fest.

The event has drawn country music fans to Saginaw for 22 years and surpassed the Saginaw County Police Department’s initial expectations of 90,000.

“It went beyond our expectations," said organizer and morning show co-host Barb Sheltraw. "Everyone is well-behaved and amazing; it went smoother than we thought.”

“I see so many different kinds of people. You can’t pigeon-hole country music (fans), they’re having a good time,” Sheltraw told MLive.com.

The Steel Wheels Band performed in between the headlining acts before heading out for their own concert in St. Louis, Mich.
