Report: CCM+E Hires Political Operative

Nathan Daschle
Clear Channel Communications is looking to cash in on the billions of dollars spent on political advertising.

The media company has hired Democratic operative Nathan Daschle as executive vice president for political strategy to build out its business with political advertisers and agencies that work with campaigns.

He is the son of former Senator Tom Daschle and will report to Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Chairman and CEO John Hogan.

Daschle told Politico that he will be focused on making sure campaigns know about Clear Channel’s capabilities and breadth across the country.
“When I look at what Clear Channel has to offer, I see an untapped resource for campaigns,” Daschle said. “Clearly campaigns have understood the power of radio for a long time, but there are things that we can now with radio, with targeting, particularly with the layer of digital on top of it that we couldn’t have done five years ago.”
Clear Channel has 850 radio stations nationwide, which reach more than 243 consumers monthly, according to the company. It also has a digital platform with more than 180 million downloads of the application and more than 125,000 outdoor displays nationwide.

Daschle did not say how much money Clear Channel was putting toward this effort, but said it would be a “far greater investment” than the company had spent previously on attracting political advertising.
